T.V. Kulyk works at the Chuiko Institute of Surface Chemistry of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine since 1988. She is a member of Academic Council of the Chuiko Institute of Surface Chemistry of NAS of Ukraine, Specialized Council D 26.210.01 (Chuiko Institute of Surface Chemistry of NAS of Ukraine).

 

Scientific interests

Catalytic pyrolysis. Biomass conversion; upgraiding components of pyrolysis bio-oils; decarbonization. Physical chemistry: kinetics, reactions/mechanisms, catalysis. Physical organic chemistry: kinetic isotope effect, substituent effects, transition state, kinetic parameters. Mass-spectrometry. Use of TPD-MS and linear free energy relationships (LFERs) for assessing the reactivity of organic molecules, biomolecules and biopolymers on nanooxides/catalysts surface. Adsorption, kinetics and mechanisms of catalytic pyrolysis of organic molecules, biomolecules and biopolymers on the surfaces of nanoscale metaloxide catalysts. Synthesis of hybrid nanocomposites based on polysaccharides and nanooxides. Investigating processes of heterogeneous catalytic pyrolysis of renewable biomass components for a development of green technologies of synthesis of bio-based chemicals and biofuel.

2000 - PhD in Chemistry, specialty “physics and chemistry of surface” (candidate dissertation «Mass spectrometry of carbohydrate fragments - terminal groups of receptors molecules in condensed state and in adsorbed state on the surface of ultrafine silica»)

2007 - Senior Researcher, specialty “physics and chemistry of surface”

2020 - Doctor of Chemistry, specialty “physics and chemistry of surface (doctoral dissertation "Systematic relationships in the catalytic pyrolysis of natural compounds on the surface of nanosized oxides of groups III and IV elementss")

2022 – Professor, specialty "chemistry".

2016 - Scholarship for Professor and Senior Researchers within Visby Programme of the Swedish Institute [03804/2016], the Project “Testing of the important catalytic reactions for green pyrolytic conversion of algae biomass to biofuels and chemicals”, Stockholm University.

2014 - the EMSL User Project #48581 "Mass-selected Ion Deposition and Surface Characterization Techniques for Evaluation of Nanocatalytic Conversion of Biomass Components in Biofuels Production" (The Environmental Molecular Sciences Laboratory (EMSL) at Northwest National Laboratory of U.S. Department of Energy (PNNL DOE), Richland, Washington, USA.

2020-2021 - Project Manager of the Project “Nanocatalyst-assisted pyrolysis for conversion of lignocellulose waste residues into sustainable biofuels using microwave treatment” FSA3-20-66700-0 from the U.S. Civilian Research & Development Foundation (CRDF Global) with funding from the United States Department of State,  (Purdue University, West Lafayette, USA).

2018-2020 -  Project Manager of the Partner Project “Next generation solid acid fuel cells and electrolyzers for a sustainable energy future” (Science and Technology Center in Ukraine (P 707, STCU)), (Leibniz Institute of surface modification, Leipzig, Germany).

2016-2018 - Team Leader of the Project between Stockholm University and Chuiko Institute of Surface Chemistry “Development of green nanotechnologies for catalytic pyrolysis of biomass” (Swedish Research Council under contract 348-2014-4250), Stockholm University.

2013-2015 -  Project Manager of the Project “Pyrolysis with the use of nanocatalysts MexOy/SiO2 the way to get second-generation biofuels via processing of fatty acids, triglycerides and renewable plant biomass” UKC2-7072-KV-12 from the U.S. Civilian Research & Development Foundation (CRDF Global) with funding from the United States Department of State,  (Northwest National Laboratory of U.S. Department of Energy (PNNL DOE), Richland, Washington, USA).

 

Scientific work

Co-author of more than 200 scientific papers (more than 18 - Q1 and >9 Q2, according to the Scimago journal ranking), more than 90 articles in referred Journals. Supervisor of 3 PhD theses.
